Modern Times

The times of landlords passed long ago, but human memory still keeps tales and legends about them. We can find these stories at Preili History and Applied Arts Museum as written collections and in different publications. The eye witness for those times-the Park welcomes everybody with its mysterious rustle of the ancient trees, supple canals and dark windows of the lonely Castle. The Park design is suitable for individual strolls in the Park and for arranging different undertakings. The first platform in the Park for amateur performer concerts was built in the 1950s but it burned down. In 1979,the new Preili Park Platform was open,3 to 4 thousands of people can gather to watch the performances here. There are different Song and Dance Festivals, folklore and craftsmen festivals, open- air performances and concerts. The Park is a favorite place for organizing traditional festivals and the town cultural activities.

Jānis Eglītis, the Chairman of Preili County Council

”During a period of more than one hundred years, the Complex of Preili Manor has experienced not only splendid flourishing but also oblivion. It is one of the largest English-type parks in Latvia with its monuments of historical and cultural significance, the symbol of the Borgh family power. We hope that in the future it could become splendor of Preili County. We have not only a vision of the future but also real plans. In the nearest future, we plan to lay out a recreation area next to the ancient Stable, renovate the Chapel and the Castle and later the canal system and the amusement infrastructure will be developed. There is a lot of work to be done. Visions come true working. Good luck to us!”
